ABOUT THE ARTIST

Good day, I’m Aidan of AJ-Concepts – thank you for popping in! Okay pleasantries over, now, a little about me (that’s what you came here for!);

I’ve always had a creative eye and flair, fascinated by colour, texture and transformations but as a child I never had the confidence to do anything for myself and was heavily dependent on those around me to carry me through…

With a lot of encouragement from my Mum, who saw this spark and challenged her shy child to help repaint bedrooms and restore furniture with her in our spare time in an attempt to coax out this creativity, I went to train so I could hone my talents further. I graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2018 with a Scenic Art and Prop Making Specialism Degree; here I found new ways to actualise all the ideas and designs buzzing in my head through stage lighting, set design and fashioning props (to name a few!). When COVID hit the world and took away Theatre world, my workplace at the time, my creative mind was yearning to find another outlet. I started at home first, setting up my studio in Stoke Mandeville where I began building shelving units with fitted lighting, constructing and painting units and found myself eventually at Jack & Atticus in Amersham.

My work itself is forever my inspiration, I am so passionate about what I do, that I am forever thinking about new ways to recreate, change and adapt my work. Aztec and Mayan cultures influence my thinking, and I have come to blend this with a contemporary restorative perspective. I love the Rustic and the Regal. The Decadent and the Dystopian. There’s something about the overstated power and grandeur that was felt by the simple shapes that the civilisations used that just speaks to my soul and my art. I am a loud and proud queer artist. I use the word queer rather than gay because although I am a gay man, inside I feel a lot of the gender spectrum. Femininity and masculinity both live in my head and my work, at all times. I want to be seen for that, in life both personally and professionally.

Every job I have is a chance to play in the sandpit with my client. It took a long time to find my own headspace, who I am and what I want to do and I enjoy guiding people through their inner child’s imaginings and bringing those dreams to life! I am lucky to have the tools and confidence to do so; so let me help you share the beauty that’s in your head. I’ll hold your hand and share the dream with you!

ABOUT THE ART

I am delighted to share my art and design work via my Shop. All of this work is Made to Order, once it’s gone, it’s gone and I likely won’t be able to recreate it again!

“Why?!” I hear you say, well, with the world in the way that it is, it is so important to be as eco-friendly as possible. My personal creations are forged through initiative and creativity coming together, which in turn means a small waste footprint (hurrah!). In the Archive, you are welcome to pursue historic designs for inspiration… if anything whets your creative appetite, why not commission a piece…

If you are interested in a collaboration experience on a commission piece, to tailor your home to you or update your furnishings to your taste, please get in touch via the contact page here. How it works:

Pre-Concept Stage

Via the online contact form or email; you send images, dimensions and references of the space or item. We will then set up a meeting to discuss in situ, the What and How of the work, culminating in a general sketch to be taken to Concept Stage (I will provide you with an approximate timeframe for drafting this).

Concept Stage

After confirming in pre-concept that you’re happy with the vision we discuss, you’ll be issued with a partial invoice ahead of the commencement of the Concept Stage.

During this stage, I will conduct thorough research and create concept art, culminating in a comprehensive breakdown of materials, uses, time and cost.

Installation Stage

We’ll have a catch up before the work really kicks in here, where we’ll ensure everything is all in order. We’ll get the diaries together and create a schedule, mapping out when and how we can attend to your project.

You’ll receive an updated invoice, which will be split into two payment stages. One pre-work and one when the work is complete and you’re happy!
